  • Location: This opportunity has the ability to be onsite/hybrid  in the Vancouver, BC Lower Mainland.
  • Base Salary: Commensurate with Experience

Salary Progression by Total  Work Terms Completed:

Work Term 1 (first work term): $22.50 pr/hr

Work Term 2: $24.00 pr/hr

Work Term 3: $27.00 pr/hr

Work Term 4: $28.00 pr/hr

Work term 5: $29.00 pr/hr

Work term 6: $30.00 pr/hr

  • Duration: May to August 2024

Python Software Developer Intern

Safe Software is looking for a Python Software Developer Intern to join our development team. This is a four-month, full-time placement (with a possibility for extension to 8-months).

Our student internships have the opportunity to be hybrid/on-premise at our office based in Surrey, BC, Canada. In order to provide the best onboarding and mentorship experience, this position will require the  intern to work on-premise at least 2 days per week at our office based in Surrey, BC, Canada. The remaining 3 days can be worked remotely from home.

About The Team

The Python team develops and maintains Python based plugins and FME Packages. Additionally, the team maintains the Python framework for FME, the SDK for FME Package development, and provides Python consulting for other teams at Safe.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Python Software Developer Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Work embedded within a team of developers and QA members.
  • Participate in daily stand-up meetings, and design and technical discussions.
  • Write and design readable, maintainable and performant code.
  • Analyze (debug) issues and properly resolve them if feasible.
  • Learn and understand new (and existing) technologies based on planned new features.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation based on code implementation.
  • Test implementations and create automated tests around code written.
  • Evaluate development tools and existing technologies for internal use.
